What is Greenlight?
Everence Federal Credit Union has partnered with Greenlight to help parents raise financially-smart kids. Greenlight is the loved, trusted financial education app and debit card for kids and teens that allows parents to instantly send their kids money, set up chores & allowance, create savings goals and more. Families who register for Greenlight via the unique link below and add your EFCU personal checking account as a funding source will receive the Greenlight SELECT plan for free.
Parent’s can add up to 5 kids, each with their own debit card. Once registration is complete, debit cards will be shipped out for each child. When the cards arrive in the mail and are activated they are ready for use!

How much does Greenlight cost for Everence Federal Credit Union members?
EFCU members are eligible for the Greenlight SELECT plan at no cost when they connect their EFCU personal checking account as the Greenlight funding source for the entirety of the promotion. Without Everence, this plan costs $5.99 per month. Upgrades will result in additional fees, but they will receive a $5.99 discount on higher tier Greenlight plans.
If members no longer have a valid EFCU checking account attached, they will get notified that they need to update their funding source or they will be billed on X date.
EFCU’s contract with Greenlight runs until October 2026. If EFCU would terminate the promotion, members will be responsible for associated monthly fees. See terms for details at greenlight.com/promotionsgeneralterms.
What is included in my free Greenlight subscription?
Your subscription includes debit cards for up to five kids, instant money transfers, spending notifications, chores, automated allowance, the financial literacy game Level Up, and more. Primary account holders can also add a second parent or approver to their Greenlight account.
Where do I sign up and access my free Greenlight subscription?
If you’re an eligible Everence Federal Credit Union member with a personal checking account, you can sign up for your free subscription on Greenlight’s website at greenlight.com/everence.

Is this a debit or credit card
Greenlight is a debit card for kids, not a credit card. Parents load money onto the card from their own funding source connected through their Greenlight app. And because it’s a debit card, kids can’t spend what isn’t there.
How is Greenlight’s debit card different from a traditional EFCU debit card?
Greenlight is an all-in-one money and safety app for families to learn to earn, save, and invest together.
As a Greenlight parent, you can:
- Transfer money instantly to your kids
- Turn the card off via the app, if needed
- Receive alerts whenever the card is used
- Set store-level spend controls to help kids learn to budget
- Automate allowance payments
- Manage chores (and instantly reward a job well done)
Is there a separate app for kids?
Kids and parents log in to the same Greenlight app but have two different experiences. Parents can send money, set flexible controls, and more. Kids learn how to manage their own money while staying safe and connected to the family.
Does Greenlight work with mobile payments?
Yes, as soon as your child’s card has been activated, they can add their Greenlight card details to Apple Pay or Google Pay, subject to Apple Pay and Google Pay age requirements, to tap and pay in an instant.

Can I send money to my child’s Greenlight card from Everence's app or online banking website?
No, Greenlight is its own individual app, but within the Greenlight app you can send money to your child’s card, turn their card on/off, set up spending controls, allowance, chores and more.
Is there a minimum age to have a Greenlight card?
We support kids and grownups of all ages. No minimum (or maximum) age here. The Primary must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. resident.
Is Greenlight safe?
Greenlight debit cards are FDIC-insured up to $250,000 and come with Mastercard’s Zero Liability Protection. Greenlight blocks ‘unsafe’ spending categories, sends real-time transaction notifications, lets parents turn cards off at any time, and gives parents flexible ATM and spending controls.
Through this partnership with Greenlight, where is the funding stored for the debit card?
Money is transferred from your EFCU checking account (or other funding source) into the Greenlight app to use with the debit cards. Think of it like withdrawing cash to give someone or loading money into a restaurant app for example.
Can I have multiple funding sources that are not EFCU added to my Greenlight account?
Yes, multiple funding sources from other financial institutions may be added into your Greenlight account, but to receive this for free through Everence you must initially add your EFCU personal checking account.
