What is your background? (Schools, hometown, major, hobbies, etc.)
I’ve grown up in Goshen, Indiana, but had never interacted with Everence. I studied at Wheaton College for two years and am now graduating in December from Grace College. I’ll be graduating with a B.A. in professional communication, which is a major that combines communication, business, and organizational psychology courses. In my free time, I love to cook, go outside, learn new things, and spend time with friends and family.
What is your role and where are you located?
I am the Investment Services Intern at the Goshen office on N. Main Street.
What is something you have learned in your internship?
Among many things, I have learned much more about investing and how Praxis Mutual Funds are unique when compared to other mutual funds.
What has been your favorite project/task?
So far, my favorite project has been getting to write two Impact Bond stories. They detail the effects of new bond purchases for our Impact Bond Fund. Soon, I will start a Shareholder Advocacy project regarding nuclear power and I’m looking forward to that, too.
How did you find Everence?
Through a connection in my church with an Everence employee, I was encouraged to check if Everence ever considered interns. I had no idea that Everence had such an established internship program.
What is something you like to do on the weekends?
On weekends, I try to get outdoors either through walks, hikes, kayaking, or swimming. I also really enjoy cooking new foods, so I often have something new I’m trying every weekend. Lastly, I am very involved in my church, so I always spend time there in attendance or serving.
What is your favorite local restaurant?
I hate to pick only one favorite, especially when it comes to food. I would say Maple Indian Cuisine or Venturi are my favorites.
What advice do you have for future interns at Everence?
Talk to everyone you can! The highlight of my internship has been meeting and talking with various co-workers in all kinds of departments. If I have an interest, my team helps arrange a time to talk with someone to learn more. This has been invaluable for my summer experience, especially with my nearing graduation.
