Are we guiding sages on a profound mission to advise donors on their life journey to have transformational impact on the world? Enjoy this deep and thoughtful session which unveils the internal, spiritual journey our donors are on, and the profound need they have for a guide to join them to fulfill their ultimate purpose and call. Learn how you as a fundraiser can meet that need and experience deep fulfillment, and lasting motivation for yourself in the process.

He will explain how he embraces obstacles to advance the mission of his team, his organization and ultimately, his community.

Calling All Heroes

General session

Explore the divergent views of donor-centered fundraising and community-centered fundraising. Who is the true hero in the nonprofit story? This talk shares the real-life story of a 13-month-old diagnosed with retinoblastoma (cancer of the eye). Through Kam’s journey, his grandfather, a fundraiser, searches for the true hero in Kam’s family quest to save not only his vision, but his very life. When you examine the strengths, passions, and impact of each possible hero, including fundraisers who raise the money for cancer research and treatment, it becomes clear – it takes all of us. The problems we seek to solve are too big for any single hero. Take inspiration from the Justice League; heroes are stronger when they work together.

Your Purpose is Bigger than You! Giving First is an Asset, not a Liability

Right now, where you are in life and your career is to serve a mission, connect with a passion, and identify a purpose for others, not for yourself. Service first is defined as “giving without immediate expectation.” Modeling and communicating giving as an investment always yields high returns. The diversity of experience, life, race, and gender plays a key role in fundraising success. Blake provides strategies to implement this mindset for a more enriching career.

What does the Financial Consultant Say?

Your donors want to support your mission, but they tell you something that makes you a bit anxious: they first want to talk with their financial consultant about their donation. Hear about questions, concerns, and creative giving opportunities of some donors through interesting case studies.

Three-E Storytelling Formula: Engaging, Empowering and Ethical

Nonprofit storytelling must be engaging, but also ethical and empowering. The sweet taste of lives transformed is best enjoyed when we tell the story of bitter beginnings. How do we best engage and inspire donors to action, while still empowering those our organization serves? Join this session to find answers to these questions and more.

Stop Obsessing over the Gift 'Vehicles'

Most fundraisers are reluctant to offer noncash gift options to their donors if they are unsure of how to work the vehicle it is delivered in. This prevents them from maximizing their true fundraising potential because they ignore planned giving options. It does the donor a disservice by not giving options to have a bigger impact to accomplish their financial goals. Gain greater confidence in understanding how to navigate conversations that lead the best gifts for your organization.
